Dancehall artiste, Timaya, took to social media some hours ago to unveil his new manager.
The ‘Egberi Papa 1 of Bayelsa’, has unveiled famed artiste manager, Osagie Osanrekhoe , as his new manager.
He wrote:
Meet my new manager….OSAGIE OKUNKPOLOR. Welcome to DM records.

Recall, Osagie, some weeks back was involved in a legal battle with Baseline Records, home to singer Skales. She was accused of defrauding the label of several millions of Naira alongside Skales, whom she managed during that period.
Osagie, before now, managed the likes of Wizkid, Reekado Banks and Dammy Krane

NAIJA GIST: Adekunle Gold Reveals Album Release Date

‘Ready’ crooner, Adekunle Gold, has finally revealed when he will be releasing his debut album.
Adekunle, has announced that his highly anticipated album, The Gold Season, will be released on July 28, 2016.
Speaking on the album during an interview, he explained that:
In the Gold album, I bare my soul to the world. I want people to experience what I felt while creating the album. Also, I hope that in the coming years, my music will still sound as fresh as they did the day they were released.
Adekunle Gold, who won the Best Alternative Song at this year’s Headies award, revealed earlier in the year that the likes of E.Banks, Seyi Keys, Oscars, are amongst the producers to work on his album.

GIST: Davido Set To Terminate Sony Deal?

Sony music act/DMW boss, Davido, is reportedly set to terminate his Sony Deal, any day now.
According to the source, entertainment blog, ‘TaleTV’, the ‘Aye’ crooner is really angry with the management of the label as they have not only delayed the release of his album, but have also not paved the way into the American music market as promised.
Taletv, revealed this by putting up a photo of Davido and writing:
#Davido is furious with #SonyMusic: According to his PR, they are not only delaying his album release but also, he feels like they are not doing much to help him migrate to the American music scene since the #FaderCover he emerged few months ago.. He’s threatening to leave if he doesn’t see results by the end of the year :evil::evil: #taletv



Davido, also shared a screenshot of the blog’s post on his page but deleted minutes later.

Naija Gist: Patoranking Unveils “God Over Everything” (GOE) Album Artwork

Patoranking has announced the release date of his debut album “God Over Everything” (GOE).
The singer who broke through in 2013 with the hit single ‘Alubarika’, and has gone on to become one of Africa’s most revered dancehall artistes with his unique fusion of Reggae, Dancehall and Afrobeat, is set to release his debut album.
The new album will be released on August 1, and will contain new single ‘No Kissing Baby’ featuring Ghanaian Sarkodie, with very few details revealed about the inclusion of his earlier singles. “Expect the unexpected.”
Patoranking said about the “GOE” album. “It has a song for everyone, for people of all ages, class and from all parts of Africa. I wanted to pay homage to my roots and also embrace the new school African music scene that is taking over the world. I can’t wait for the world to hear it, to hear us.”

Naija Gist: Wizkid Should Have Won BET’S Best International Act – Black Coffee

The 2016 BET Awards which was recently concluded saw South African artiste, Black Coffee, clinching the award for the Best International Act, Africa category.
Black Coffee, who was nominated alongside two other South African talented acts, AKA and Cassper Nyovest, said he wished the award would have gone to Nigerian superstar Wizkid.
In his word:
I would like to see Wizkid take it. He’s worked hard! I really think he deserves it. He’s also done well internationally being featured on Drake’s album and working with Chris Brown.
Speaking further on his dreams and aspirations, Black Coffee said:
One of the things I dreamt about when I was young was to be friends with Michael Jackson. I always wanted to take SA to the world and be known internationally. I had mapped down my dream since the beginning and I’ve been working towards them.
On BET, the multi-award winning DJ and Producer, said being nominated was a beautiful thing as it reminded him of all the hard work he has put in since the beginning of his career. He also praised the award show organizers saying not only do they promote African artists, but they also ensure to work with the entertainers.

Naija Gist: Yemi Alade’s “Johnny” Music Video Costume Displayed at The Grammy Museum

Ever wondered what happened to what Yemi Alade wore in the music video for her global smash “Johnny”? Well, one of the pieces is currently been displayed at the prestigious Grammy museum in Los Angeles, California.
The singer who is currently in L.A and hopes to win the award of “Best International Act: Africa” at the 2016 BET Awards this Sunday, shared a video on Instagram of the Amarelis Atelier designed dance attire she wore in the Clarence Peters directed visual for “Johnny” displayed in the “Sounds of Africa” section at The Grammy Museum.
Yemi Alade’s “Johnny” is the biggest song recorded by an African female artiste in recent times; upon release the afro-pop classic became an anthem in Africa, Europe and across the globe and the said visual has gained over 47 million views digitally.

YBNL boss, Olamide Baddo, is said to be working on his 6th studio album.
According to a source, it was confirmed that the ‘Abule Sowo’  crooner, is currently putting in hardwork to finish his 6th studio album, set to be released in a few months.
Same source added that Olamide, might not be adding singles such as Konkobility, Abule Sowo and I love Lagos in the new album.

The singer tweeted on May 11, 2016, that his new album would be titled, “God Over Everything” adding that those who know his story would understand.

Patoranking also debuted the title in form of an acronym,forming the has tag, #GOE2016, which is bound to goviral.
The 27-yr-old dancehall singer who had made his debut into limelight in 2014 with club banger, “Girlie O” has kept his fans wanting more with his tracks and we can’t wait to see what he has to offer this time around.

Reacting to some rumors about the brain behind his hit song, ‘This Year’, Jaywon has cleared the hair.
Thenet.ng caught up with the singer at a relaxation center where he confirmed that the hit song, ‘This Year’ was written by him and not Nomoreloss.
Jaywon, added that of r a while he had been hearing rumor that the deceased (Nomoreloss) claimed to have written the song, and upon calling to confirm from him, Nomoreloss himself, denied ever saying such.
Jaywon said:
For all of you watching me, I wrote my song ooo, no body write a song for me.

Naija Gist: Wizkid Smashed And Broke A Microphone During Sound Check In Ghana – Ghanaians

Last week, we reported that Wizkid, attended the  17th Ghana Music Awards where he won the African Artiste of the Year award.
Wizkid also made headlines when he announced that he just signed the likes of  Efya, R2Bess and Mr. Eazi to his Starboy Entertainment Worldwide, with Oma Sterling, of R2Bees named as the label’s president.
What we were unaware of his how he behaved during sound check, as some Ghanaian blogs are now reporting how he goofed.
According to some Ghanaian blogs, Wizkid did not in the least act professionally. It was reported that he smashed and broke a microphone minutes after starting his sound check.
(He) expressed his frustration throwing some unprintable words at the director’ because he was delayed for almost 2 hours before he could do his sound check only for the organizers to hurry him up in the process.’
