Naija Gist: Wizkid Should Have Won BET’S Best International Act – Black Coffee







The 2016 BET Awards which was recently concluded saw South African artiste, Black Coffee, clinching the award for the Best International Act, Africa category.
Black Coffee, who was nominated alongside two other South African talented acts, AKA and Cassper Nyovest, said he wished the award would have gone to Nigerian superstar Wizkid.
In his word:
I would like to see Wizkid take it. He’s worked hard! I really think he deserves it. He’s also done well internationally being featured on Drake’s album and working with Chris Brown.
Speaking further on his dreams and aspirations, Black Coffee said:
One of the things I dreamt about when I was young was to be friends with Michael Jackson. I always wanted to take SA to the world and be known internationally. I had mapped down my dream since the beginning and I’ve been working towards them.
On BET, the multi-award winning DJ and Producer, said being nominated was a beautiful thing as it reminded him of all the hard work he has put in since the beginning of his career. He also praised the award show organizers saying not only do they promote African artists, but they also ensure to work with the entertainers.

Naija Gist: Yemi Alade’s “Johnny” Music Video Costume Displayed at The Grammy Museum









Ever wondered what happened to what Yemi Alade wore in the music video for her global smash “Johnny”? Well, one of the pieces is currently been displayed at the prestigious Grammy museum in Los Angeles, California.
The singer who is currently in L.A and hopes to win the award of “Best International Act: Africa” at the 2016 BET Awards this Sunday, shared a video on Instagram of the Amarelis Atelier designed dance attire she wore in the Clarence Peters directed visual for “Johnny” displayed in the “Sounds of Africa” section at The Grammy Museum.
Yemi Alade’s “Johnny” is the biggest song recorded by an African female artiste in recent times; upon release the afro-pop classic became an anthem in Africa, Europe and across the globe and the said visual has gained over 47 million views digitally.

Naija Gist: Olamide Set To Drop 6th Studio Album









YBNL boss, Olamide Baddo, is said to be working on his 6th studio album.
According to a source, it was confirmed that the ‘Abule Sowo’  crooner, is currently putting in hardwork to finish his 6th studio album, set to be released in a few months.
Same source added that Olamide, might not be adding singles such as Konkobility, Abule Sowo and I love Lagos in the new album.

Since his emergence on the scene, Olamide has released 5 studio albums which have all gone on to do well in their rights.
